Pacific Building Services Statement on Diversity and Inclusion

Pacific Building Services strongly believes in creating diversity in its workforce as diverse thoughts, backgrounds, and experiences all contribute to a more effective and healthy organization. PBS actively seeks people of color and women in its hiring and promotion opportunities. People of all communities are not only welcomed at PBS but encouraged to grow into leadership positions within the company.

PBS is certified as a disability-owned enterprise through Disability:IN’s Supplier Diversity Program, approved by the National Certification Committee. A disability-owned business enterprise (DOBE) is a business which is 51 percent owned, controlled, operated, and managed by a person(s) with a disability. This definition is provided by Disability:IN, the leading nonprofit resource for business disability inclusion worldwide. Our DOBE certification demonstrates our commitment to diversity and inclusiveness and our goal to create a workplace where all employees feel valued, respected, and supported, regardless of disabilities.

We recognize and understand that racism still exists in our society. We cannot close our eyes to it or pretend it doesn’t exist. We must never stop ensuring that PBS fosters a culture of inclusion and openness and is free of bias. Every employee must be respected, appreciated, and treated fairly.

To that end, we have a permanent committee to ensure we not only maintain an inclusive culture, but to improve upon it. Nahom Tedros, a long-term PBS employee who has risen through the ranks from janitor to manager, has been appointed the committee chairman. Also on this committee is our Human Resources Manager and a diverse group of employees. We want input and direction from our front line employees on how we are better able to recognize any conscious or unconscious bias throughout the organization. Committee input and decisions will be taken very seriously by executive management.

We are committed to diversity and inclusion and will remain vigilant in this commitment.
